The travels of a Cognitian

One of my favourite aspects of working at Cognito is the opportunity to travel and interact with my colleagues from our other global offices. Since I started as an intern in 2012, I have been to six countries and eight different cities.

Singapore – In September 2015, I had the opportunity to attend Sibos in Singapore, this was the second largest Sibos ever and the largest in Asia. Coincidently, Singapore was celebrating its 50th year of independence and being able to work on such an exciting event with my colleagues from the Singapore and New York offices made it even more valuable.

Paris – On many occasions, working at a fast paced global agency has brought me to Paris where we assist several clients in a variety of ways. We even run French lessons early in the morning to help our employees pick up a few phrases or become fluent depending on their motivation levels!

Orlando – In January 2013, the whole company descended on Orlando for Cognicon – our bi-annual internal off-site – where we had a chance to learn about all aspects of the business, from pitching to team building, and got to listen to several insightful presentations from guest speakers.

Brussels – One of my most frequent destinations with Cognito is Brussels as one of our largest clients, SWIFT, is based there. SWIFT HQ is set in an amazing country-style building and having the opportunity to travel and meet with clients to discuss strategies and plan for the future face-to-face is incredibly useful.

Dublin – In December 2015, all Cognitians gathered in Dublin for my second Cognicon – the cold, blustery weather was not a dampener on the experience as we witnessed some incredible guest speakers, participated in our very own Dragon’s Den and enjoyed the entertainment that Dublin has to offer!

New York – As an integrated agency we work very closely with our colleagues in New York and have a number of accounts that are held globally. As a result I’ve been able to travel to the New York office which has helped me to develop strong bonds with my fellow Cognitians across the pond.

BostonIn September 2014, a group of us embarked on Boston for Sibos, the largest transactional banking conference in the world, for which Cognito is the official communications agency. One of the highlights of the week was getting to listen to Bill Gates do the keynote speech and Admiral Michelle Howard, the highest ranking woman in the US Navy, do a diversity keynote.

DubaiIn September 2013, we travelled to Dubai for my first ever Sibos. The sheer size and scale of the conference blew me away as all of the world’s major financial institutions have a presence at Sibos – it is a phenomenal event and one that we are very proud to support.
